Enfield CEREC Crowns
CEREC crowns, offered by Enfield’s Dr. Cummiskey, are a welcome improvement to what used to be a long process to repair a damaged tooth. Crowns that used to take weeks can now be done the same day, in one appointment, saving you hassle and time.
Traditional Crowns
With traditional crowns, it is at least a two-visit process. The first visit is used to prepare the tooth, take an impression of it, and fit it with a temporary crown. The impression and any instructions are sent to a dental lab to create the permanent crown. Temporary crowns are made so that they can be easily removed, which means they could come off by themselves. And they tend to be uncomfortable.
After the permanent crown is made, a second visit is needed to bond it in place.
CEREC Crowns
With extensive training and high-tech equipment, Dr. Cummiskey’s CEREC crown technology allows for the whole process to be completed in your first (and only) visit. After examining the damaged tooth, it is prepared, similar to traditional methods. Then, using a 3D camera and a state-of-the-art software program, an impression is digitally made, replacing the traditional messy physical impression that can be uncomfortable to many patients.
Using the CEREC technology , a crown is milled on-site from color-matched ceramic, so there is no need for a temporary crown. It is precisely fitted, bonded and polished, and off you go, all in a single visit.
